The start of the year is the perfect time for a spruce up, so we decided to add in the popular Bollywood hit Chamma Chamma into our performance medleys.
We had (almost) all of our regular company dancers come to a rehearsal to learn a dance choreographed by one of our directors Olivia Heiser. She taught the routine in 1.5hrs and they picked it up fast and really liked it!
See our video below for an idea of what the finished dance looks like – but remember, they’ve just learnt it, so it will be much more polished if you see us performing it on the dance floor!
Audition Time
We also held an audition on the same day as we needed some new dancers to join Bollywood Vibes to keep up with the demand of all the jobs we have. From starting the company nearly 10years ago with just 5 dancers, to today when we now have 26 female dancers, it’s amazing how we have grown in strength and numbers!
The standard of the dancers who came along to the audition was the highest we have ever seen, so it made our job really hard to choose.
We shortlisted 12 female dancers to audition for us, and were looking to take on five new dancers.
We asked them to prepare a Bollywood solo to show us, as we like to see the dancer’s choreographic style, as well as their performance quality. It was great to see all the budding choreographers, as well as their lovely dances.
We also got them to learn the new Chamma Chamma dance along with our current company dancers, so we could see how quickly they picked up a dance routine. This is important to us as we often change things on gigs to fit in with the space or formations of dancers, so we need people who work quickly and are good at last minute changes.
After a lot of thought we took on five new dancers and are really excited to get them trained up and out on jobs. Now comes the long part, teaching them aaaalllll our performance sets!
